Marine Serre’s goals have been set and smashed from an early age. After a string of affirming internships with Margiela, McQueen and Dior, the designer launched her first collection. Her fifth year graduate collection, a response to the political climate post-Paris and Brussels attacks named “A Radical Call for Love”, was shortlisted for the Hyères Festival, the ANDAM Prize and the LVMH Prize, ultimately winning the latter. All whilst working as a junior designer at Balenciaga under Demna Gvasalia.
Fast forward two years and Marine Serre’s critically acclaimed collections have garnered a cult following. Seasons have seamlessly progressed to continuously hybrid sustainability, couture and athletic aesthetic. Anthropological approach centres SS19 “Hardcore Couture” . Flashing orange polyamide empowers body con fit, survival and technical fits enhance the ever dystopian mood of fashion’s future, encapsulating the urban spiritualism present across the collection. Structural jackets contrast silk caps. Asymmetry supported in scuba. Sleeveless flamenco and F1 overalls are the new sporty staples.
This is not one future. This is multiple.
Marine Serre is the embodiment of multifunctional elegance and metropolitan comfort.
